Dr. Joan Marques, ASPEX Co-Founder and Director, stands for more than 20 successful years in advertising, public relations, radio- and television production, and dynamic entrepreneurship. In Suriname, her home country, she co-founded and managed several small businesses and founded a non-profit organization focused on advancement of women. She is the author/co-author of more than 20 books, among which, Joy at Work, Work at Joy: Living and Working Mindfully Every Day," (Personhood Press, 2010); "The Awakened Leader: One Simple Leadership Style, That Works Every Time, Everywhere", (Personhood Press, 2007), and co-author of "Spirituality in the Workplace: What it Means; Why it Matters; How to Make it Work for You"(Personhood Press, 2007); "The Workplace and Spirituality: New Perspectives on Research and Practice" (Skylight Paths, 2009), and From Me to We: Transforming Ourselves to Greater Awareness" (Kendall-Hunt, 2011). She has furthermore co-authored and co-edited "Managing in the 21st Century: Transforming Toward Mutual Growth" and "Stories to Tell Your Students: Transforming toward Organizational Growth," (both Palgrave-MacMillan, 2011), and has several new works in print.
Aside from her entrepreneurial, writing, and research-based activities, Dr. Marques is Dean of the School of Business at Woodbury University in Burbank, California. She is also a full Professor of Management, teaching courses in business and management in both, the MBA and BBA Programs.
Joan has authored a wide variety of papers and articles for scholarly journals and other sources. She writes for scholarly and popular audiences and her poetry and quotes are widely available on the Web. Dr. Marques holds a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Social Sciences from The Oldendorff Graduate School, Tilburg University (the Netherlands, 2011); a Doctorate (Ed.D.) in Organizational Leadership from Pepperdine University (2004); an MBA from Woodbury University, and a B.Sc. in Business Economics (Suriname). Dr. Satinder Dhiman, ASPEX Co-Founder and Director, Professor Dhiman has been preparing leaders in higher education for the last 30+ years in various settings on two continents.
Professor Dhiman holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Commerce (with Gold Medal) from Punjab University, India, and a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Pepperdine University (1995). He has also completed advanced Executive Leadership Programs at Stanford (2003), Harvard (2005), and Wharton (2009). He completed a Post-Doctoral Bridge to Business Program at Tulane University in 2010. He also holds a PhD in Buddhist Psychology in Management from The Oldendorff Graduate School (Ph.D. in Social Sciences – Management orientation), Tilburg University, Netherlands (November, 2011).
Widely published, Dr. Dhiman is also the co-author of five books titled From Me to We: Transforming Ourselves to Greater Awareness (2011); Managing in the 21st Century: Transforming Toward Mutual Growth (2011); Stories to Tell Your Students: Transforming toward Organizational Growth (2011); The Workplace and Spirituality: New Perspectives on Research and Practice (2009) and Spirituality in the Workplace: What it is, Why it matters, and How to make it work for you (2007).
Currently Professor Dhiman is also working on a book titled "Success to Significance: Seven Habits of Highly Effective Leaders" that is scheduled to be published in April 2012.
Dr. Jerry Biberman, ASPEX Advising Director, is Professor Emeritus of Management, University of Scranton. For twelve years he served as Chair of the Management/Marketing Department at the University of Scranton.
Dr. Biberman obtained his MS, MA and PhD from Temple University. He writes, teaches, consults, speaks, and conducts workshops in the areas of work and spirituality, workplace diversity, and organization transformation. Dr. Biberman is a former co-editor of the Journal of Management, Spirituality and Religion, and has co-edited several special editions on work and spirituality for the Journal of Organizational Change Management.
Dr. Biberman is co-editor of At Work: Spirituality Matters (University of Scranton Press, 2007) and of Spirituality in Business:Theory, Practice and Future Directions (Palgrave MacMillan, 2009). He also co-authored and co-edited "Managing in the 21st Century: Transforming Toward Mutual Growth" and "Stories to Tell Your Students: Transforming toward Organizational Growth," (both Palgrave-MacMillan, 2011).
Dr. Biberman was a founder and first chair of the Management, Spirituality and Religion interest group of the Academy of Management.
